What style of Karate do you teach?
We teach Okinawan Shurite Karate Jutsu. Shurite is a traditional Okinawan martial art rooted in Chinese Shaolin ChaunFa/Kempo & Hsing-yi. As such, it is a soft-hard, internal-external system which incorporates the Five Animals of Shaolin, circular & linear movements, interception, deflection and redirection of movement, Kyusho Jutsu (point striking), Tuite (grappling) applications, and a system of Qigong (Kiko) for energy development and control.
Areas of in depth study and training:
Kata
The heart and soul of
Okinawan Karate lies within its Kata and the practical combative applications
handed down through them. There are three levels of Kata: Performance,
Interpretation, & Bunkai (Application). By analyzing the movements within
Kata and applying Martial Science to enhance the application of the techniques
provide for a very effective and efficient form of self-defense.
Kyusho Jutsu
Tactics that attackand
exploit the body's energetic, nervous, circulatory, respiratory, &
muscular/skeletal systems through the use of Pressure Point manipulation.
Tuite Jutsu
Joint/skeletal locking and
grappling methods of close range and ground fighting.
Qigong/Kiko
Internal energy development for health and martial power.
